Kick-off meeting for the implementation of the business plan

The inaugural meeting for the finalization of the experimental greenhouses, the design and the start of the experimental process for the control of the insect Tuta absoluta in these greenhouses was held at the offices of the Agricultural Horticultural Cooperative of Tympaki. Present at the meeting were the scientific manager of the project, Emmanuel Roditakis, the staff of the Agricultural Cooperative, as well as the producers whose greenhouses will be the experimental fields.

Mr. Roditakis informed the participating producers about the objectives of the project, the actions they should take and the expected results. At the same time, a first presentation of the laboratory results of the resistance of insect populations from different parts of the area of Tympaki to a variety of active substances, that are commercially available, was made. These results will form the basis for the guidelines to be communicated to producers at the start of cultivation and, together with the available experience, will be an important tool in dealing with this important pest.
