First results of the questionnaire on incorrect plant protection practices

The tomato leafminer Tuta absoluta is the most important insect pest in horticultural crops, threatening even the total destruction of tomato production.

The studies of some cases in recent years show that incorrect monitoring and management practices may have played the most decisive role. However, at a national level, these practices have never been recorded. What do growers think about the current plant protection status of T. absoluta? Does the different level of training of producers and agronomists ultimately play a decisive role in decision making? There is no clear answer to all the above questions.

The Hellenic Mediterranean University – Department of Agriculture, having found the above, will try to capture the way the farmers face the problem with a short and simple questionnaire.

Questionnaire

A total of 242 questionnaires have already been completed by several regional units. Although the number of questionnaires answered is significant, even more participation is needed, especially from some regions of the country, to have a statistically strong and reliable sample.
